Week 6 HW420

Well week 6 is here and I am getting a jump start. I will be out of town this weekend and a retreat! yeah!

Week six I practiced the loving kindness on page 93 and again I was amazed. I actually had a co worker read it to me so I could concentrate a little better. I have noticed a great deal of change in my heart. I have allowed myself to open up to the idea of meditation. I have also had not so pleasant thoughts enter my mind and they have been a bit disturbing. I know now the disturbing thoughts can be turned to love and will not hurt me.

Page 115 Assessment

After I completed this assessment I found the chatter sometimes re entering my still mind. I am able however to have that still mind for almost 7 minutes now which was impossible at the beginning. When I asked the question what part of my life needs help? emotional health came flooding into my heart. I enjoyed this assessment and plan to continue with it at least three times a week.

  1. Shawna, isnt is exhillarating to know that you can control the noise in your mind. It really is a mind over matter experience. I hope that you have a great time this week while you out.

  2. Great job Shawna! Isn't terrific to feel like you are making progress! I have found I am more patience and understanding as a result of these exercises. I don't get as stressed out as I used to. 7 minutes is quite an accomplishment - I hope to be following in your tracks with this progress as well. Have a great weekend and enjoy your time away!

  3. Hi Shawna ~ I love that we can in some way control those negatives and crush them mentally. The way I have been doing this is to remind myself, that all of these negatives are lies, they are not the truth. I quickly then run through in my mind the truth about things, instead of hearing the lie that "if I was better at this, things would have worked out this way" and I replace that with the truth of "it is ok that things worked out the way they did and truth is that I learned another way that things can be done". Just changing our mental verbiage can switch things from a negative to a positive and that is so powerful!
